Store and Account Region: Check Your Account Before Searching
Shadowrocket isn’t available in the mainland China App Store. If a search for Shadowrocket returns no results, check the country or region associated with your purchase account instead of repeatedly changing your search terms. Your Apple ID’s country or region determines the storefront you see and can affect app availability, currency, and payment methods. Your device’s physical location, system language, and purchase account’s storefront region are separate settings.
The button on this page links to Shadowrocket’s US App Store product page. The us in the URL identifies the storefront; it does not change your Apple ID’s country or region. Being able to view the app description in a browser does not mean your signed-in purchase account can buy or install it. Check the message shown in the App Store for your account’s storefront.
How to Check Your Country or Region
Open Settings on your device, tap Apple ID, select Media & Purchases, then go to Country/Region under View Account. You can also find the option to change your region there. Labels and menu paths may vary slightly by system version, so follow the account options shown on your device. Check the account used for media purchases; you don’t need to change your device language to search for the app.
If the App Store says the app isn’t available in your region, stop and check your account settings. If payment can’t be completed, review your payment details and purchase restrictions. If your device isn’t compatible, check the product page’s compatibility section. Treat region availability, payment failures, and device compatibility as separate issues to avoid changing unrelated settings. Don’t assume an app with a similar name in search results is the same product.
Verify Shadowrocket: Developer, Icon, and App ID
Confirm that all three details match before purchasing. Screenshots can help you recognize the interface, but they don’t verify the app’s identity in the store.
Check the Developer and Product Page URL First
The app name should be Shadowrocket. On the product page, verify Shadow Launch Technology Limited in the developer or seller information, then check the app ID in the URL. The correct URL contains id932747118; the number 932747118 identifies this app. Search ranking, keywords in the description, and similar-looking icon colors are not substitutes for checking these details.
Then Compare the Official Icon
The official icon is a rocket outlined in blue and purple on a white background, matching the icon shown above. Compare its overall shape, background, and outline, but don’t rely on a small image in search results. On the product page, also confirm the full developer name and app ID. If another app has a similar name, follow these checks rather than relying on an informal name or title description.
After Installation: Find Home and Add Server
The two screenshots on the right are official English-interface screenshots uploaded by the developer to the App Store. Home shows the connection toggle, Global Routing, Connectivity Test, and SERVER section. Add Server shows the fields for adding a server. The screenshots show the interface presented in the store; the current layout and labels may change with updates. Don’t verify an app’s identity based only on a button’s position or the interface language.
Not Connected on Home means there’s no active connection; it doesn’t indicate a purchase failure. In Add Server, fields such as Host, Port, Password, and Method must be filled with details for a server you already have. Empty fields aren’t items to buy on this page after paying for the app. Purchasing the client and configuring a connection are separate steps.
After verifying the app, get future updates through the App Store. To review changes, check the product page’s update history and compare it with the current in-app settings. This manual retains English interface labels such as Home, Config, and Add Server so you can find them directly in the app.
iPhone: Purchase, First Launch, and Connection Authorization
Open the product page linked here in the App Store on your iPhone. Verify the three details that identify the official app, then review compatibility, pricing, and account information before confirming the purchase in the system prompt. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements; these steps don’t guarantee that the app can be installed on every device. If your device is marked as incompatible, check the compatibility details and available system updates instead of repeatedly trying to pay.
After installation, open Shadowrocket and check Home. You can explore the interface, but connecting still requires importing your own subscription or server details. Enter them manually with Add Server or choose the relevant import option for the format you have. Before entering details, check the data type, address, and port. Required fields vary by type; entering only an address doesn’t necessarily complete the configuration.
The VPN Configuration Prompt Appears When Connecting
The first time you turn on the connection toggle, the system may ask to add a VPN configuration and authenticate your device. This authorization lets the system manage network connections; it is separate from the App Store payment confirmation. Make sure the request was initiated by Shadowrocket, which you just opened, and read the system prompt before allowing it. If you don’t have server details yet, leave the app disconnected and handle authorization after configuration is ready.
Allowing a VPN configuration means the system accepted the configuration; it doesn’t guarantee that the server is reachable. Back on Home, check the selected default server and run Connectivity Test. If the test fails, distinguish between data-entry issues, server availability, and your current network. See Getting Started for the full setup sequence. If an existing configuration won’t connect, see the troubleshooting guide.
iPad: Install with the Same Purchase Account; Check Configuration Separately
The iPhone and iPad versions of Shadowrocket are universal. After purchasing once with an Apple ID, you can find and install the app from Purchased on another eligible device. “Same account” means the account used for Media & Purchases; matching other account details signed in on the device doesn’t prove that the App Store is using the original purchase account. Check the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase eligibility.
The iPad’s larger screen may display lists, details, and settings differently from the iPhone. Use English labels such as Home, Config, and Settings to find your way instead of matching screenshot button positions pixel by pixel. Add your existing server, select the default server, and turn on the connection toggle as separate steps. A different layout doesn’t mean it’s a different app.
Keep purchase history and app configuration separate. Installing from Purchased confirms that the purchase account recognizes the app; it doesn’t restore server details or rules on another device. After installation, check the details on Home and the current Config. If the original configuration isn’t there, restore a backup you kept or import your existing details again, then verify them before connecting.
Availability on Other Apple Devices
The compatibility section of the same App Store listing also includes Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. To use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, check the same product page on that device. Device compatibility, system requirements, and universal purchase availability are determined by the App Store listing. The iPhone and iPad instructions on this page don’t necessarily apply to other devices, and setup may differ.
New Device and Restore: Restore the App, Then Your Data
When switching to a new device or reinstalling, open the App Store with the Apple ID used for the original purchase. Go to Purchased under Account, find Shadowrocket, and download it again. Depending on your system, the app list may be under “Apps” or a similarly named section; follow the current page. Once the original purchase account recognizes the purchase, you can redownload the app without paying again. Installation still depends on the current storefront and device requirements.
Still Seeing a Price? Don’t Confirm Payment Again Yet
First check the account signed in to Media & Purchases, then review your purchase history to confirm that the original purchase was for Shadowrocket. If the current account differs from the original purchase account, a displayed price doesn’t mean the purchase history has been lost. If you’ve changed storefront regions, check app availability in the current store too. Keep the system message and follow its instructions to resolve account or purchase issues rather than repeatedly deleting the app.
Reinstalling Doesn’t Restore Your Configuration
If your old device is still available, check the Config, server details, and any sync or backup you need to keep before transferring. After restoring the app, check whether Home shows your servers and Config contains the expected setup. If not, import your own subscription or server details and restore your saved configuration. Seeing the app on your new device doesn’t mean its rules and connection details have transferred too.
After restoring, run a basic check: select the expected server, verify Global Routing, turn on the connection toggle, and run Connectivity Test. If the test fails, check whether the restored details are complete and still valid before moving on to targeted troubleshooting. Reinstalling isn’t a universal fix for connection problems; repeated reinstallations without a backup may leave you with more details to enter again.
Price and Purchase: A One-Time Client Purchase ≠ a Service Plan
Shadowrocket is a paid client available as a one-time purchase, with no monthly client fee. The US reference price is $2.99; other storefronts display local currency. The actual price is the amount shown on the App Store confirmation screen. The reference price explains the pricing model, not the final charge, and storefronts may use different currencies.
Before you buy, understand the difference between a one-time client purchase and a service plan. Paying for the app grants access to the client; it does not include the server details needed to connect. This is the Shadowrocket website and official manual; it does not provide or sell servers or subscriptions. You’ll need your own existing subscription or server details, which you can then import and test using this manual.
The App Store manages your app purchase history. The validity, availability, and connection details of any service you already use are separate matters. If a connection fails, start by checking the specific message shown by the system or app. If the app opens normally but a server test fails, that doesn’t mean you need to buy the client again. A successful app purchase doesn’t prove that a service is available.
Get future updates through the App Store. Before updating, keep your current configuration and a backup. After updating, check the connection using your usual steps. Confirm pricing, compatibility, purchase eligibility, and update history on the product page; this page doesn’t list system requirements or version details that may change.
